Your Security Camera: If It Only Had a Brain

How are your security cameras and the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz alike? Yep, they both need a brain. Or, so says one artificial intelligence (AI) expert, Brent Boekestein, CEO and co-founder of AI-enabled video analytics software provider Vintra.

Boekestein, who spoke at the recent BOMA International Conference & Expo in Salt Lake City, shared that some $425 billion has been spent on “secure, safe, productive environments” and an estimated 130 million security cameras are installed in buildings every year.  In a recent interview with BUILDINGS, Boekestein explained that AI mimics the biological structure of the brain.
