TOBY 2018 Winners Announced

ELEVEN BROWARD AND PALM BEACH COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE PROPERTIES QUALIFY TO COMPETE IN 9-STATE REGIONAL COMPETITION 

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA (November 10, 2018) — Over 330 building owners, property managers and service providers were in attendance as Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches announced the winners of the esteemed ‘The Outstanding Building of Year’ (TOBY) awards at its annual gala on Friday night, November 9th, 2018 at the Bonaventure Resort & Spa in Weston, FL.

The TOBY Awards are the most prestigious awards for commercial real estate in the country and honors the finest in property management. During the competition, all facets of a building’s operations are thoroughly evaluated from community involvement and site management to environmental policies and procedures.

The eleven Broward and Palm Beach County properties announced at this year’s TOBY Gala are qualified to compete for the TOBY Southern Region title in their respective categories. The regional competition is comprised of properties from nine states and winners will be announced on March 30, 2019 in Savannah, GA. Regional winners compete at the International level. 

The qualifying commercial properties in their categories are:

Under 100,000 Square Foot Category Plaza at Las Olas, owned by Third Avenue Associates, Ltd. and managed by Stiles Property Management. Property Manager: Yakir Dotan

100,000 to 249,999 Square Foot Category Cypress Center, owned by Omnicom, Inc. and managed by CBRE, Inc. Property Manager: Michael Williams

250,000 to 499,999 Square Foot Category 200 East Last Olas, owned by PRII SR 200 East Las Olas Owner, LLC and managed by Stiles Property Management. Property Manager: Judy Carter, RPA

Over 1,000,000 Square Foot Category Boca Raton Innovation Campus, owned by Crocker Partners, LLC, managed by Crocker Partners Property Management, Manager: Julie Palmer-Nicholson, RPA

Industrial Category  Deerfield Corporate Park, owned by Ivy Quarom Property, LLC. and managed by owned by Ivy Reality Property Managers: Nancy Dempster-Alvarez

Public Assembly  Tri-Rail Office and Pompano Station Building, Owned by South Florida Regional Transportation Authority and managed by Stiles Property Management, Manager:  Devon Newton, RPA, LEED GA.

Retail Category Tower Shops, owned by Federal Realty Investment Trust and managed by Stiles Property Management. Property Manager: Erica Toda

Awards were also given to individuals for outstanding contributions to BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches and their achievements in the property management industry. Individual award recipients were:

  • Property Manager of the Year: Tricia Foreman, Stiles Property Management
  • Building Engineer of the Year: Yuri Benavides , CBRE
  • Associate Member of the Year: Mike Mulligan, Jr. Complete Structure Painting
  • Outstanding Member of the Year: Nicki O’Neill, Stiles Property Management
  • Rising Star of the Year: Nicole Albarano, Trane
  • Ron Macklin Scholarship Award: Alexandra Missan Stiles Property Management

The 2018 TOBY award’s main sponsor was GreenTeam Service Corp, a plumbing services contractor serving South Florida.
