Budgeting & Accounting     02/22 - 02/24     RPA

Budgeting and Accounting features applications and problems you can use to create building and facilities' budgets. In this course, you will have the opportunity to apply concepts within the real property and facilities context. You will follow the accounting process and creation of a budget from start to finish, learning valuable skills such as how to interpret financial statements, annual reports, and statements of cash flows. You will also learn practical skills such as how to compile lease abstracts and prepare rent rolls. The course includes valuable exercises pertaining to computing productivity ratios, depreciation, ending cash balances, preparing income and expense budgets, and explaining budget variances.

This course provides you with a clear understanding of electricity basics, the skills needed to measure electrical consumption, and the ability to recognize, set up, and maintain reliable and effective maintenance and safety systems.

Building, Design & Maintenance     09/27 - 09/29      SMA

Knowing how a structure functions, and your role in maintaining it effectively, you are involved in the repair and replacement of structural items such as floors, ceilings, interior walls, and windows, and you need a basic understanding of building design, materials, codes, regulations, and structural systems and finishes. You also need to be familiar with maintenance procedures and equipment, grounds maintenance, and preventive maintenance, as well as construction documents. In this course, you will cover the characteristics, uses, and properties of common building materials, as well as building regulations, codes, and standards.

You will learn to compare building system components and to identify appropriate inspection and maintenance techniques. You will develop the knowledge to establish procedures and standards for monitoring building operations, preventive maintenance, and cleaning. You will also learn to read and use construction documents, studying from a coursebook that features a set of drawings and an architect's pocket scale. Featuring helpful new illustrations and current resources, such as governmental and industry websites, this course can help you design and maintain sound, safe buildings.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • All classes are held from 8 AM - 6 PM. 
  • Be sure to read the cancellation policy below.
  • Exam is scheduled at a Pearson Vue Testing Center. You will receive information about that from BOMI International after you register for the course within about 1 week from the class start date.
  • Class locations are either in Boca Raton or Ft. Lauderdale. Addresses are listed on the events page when you select the class you want to enroll for.
  • Class date and location are subject to change with little advanced notice.
  • Please select “by-pass” payment, until we confirm that the class has enough students to proceed. 
  • A $250 cancellation fee will apply of the student cancels less than 2 weeks from the start of the class. 
  • The unwrapped book must be returned to BOMA FTL/PB within one week of cancellation or an additional $200 charge will apply. 

BOMA FTLPB BOMI Course Registration Cancellation Policy 

  • In order to receive a 100% refund, a request to cancel a registration for a BOMI Course offered through BOMA FTL/PB must be submitted in writing via email to boma@bomaftlpb.org no later than twenty-one (21) calendar days prior to the course start date.
  • No verbal or voicemail requests will be considered, honored or binding. 
  • No refunds will be issued within 21 days of class start date.
  • If a student cancels prior to the 21-day deadline, the textbook must be returned unopened to BOMA FTL/PB in all cases where a student cancels the registration. If the textbook is opened, you will be invoiced $200 as we are unable to return opened textbooks. 
  • You will receive an email confirming that we have received your request to cancel. If all of the above-mentioned criteria are met, BOMA FTL/PB will approve your refund and a refund will be processed within 4 weeks. You will then receive either a check or a refund to your credit card depending on your original method of payment. 
  • In lieu of a refund, you may hold payment on your account to transfer to another course.

Attention new students: There is an additional $225 designation enrollment fee. This is a one-time only fee to be paid to the BOMA local association or BOMI before starting your first class. Be sure to check off that box when you register.
