speaker topic:

Electrical Safety & Arc Flash: A Survivor's Story

Not the typical "Safety Presentation," Don Johnson is sharing real-life lessons from his near-death experience.

Don Johnson is a Service Department Manager for Borrell Electric Company. On Thursday, August 12, 2004, he almost lost his life in an electrical explosion (or arc flash and blast). He survived third-degree burns down to the muscle on both his arms and hands as well as second-degree burns to his face and neck. He endured almost two years of recovery from burns, infections, reactions to medications, surgeries, and physical rehabilitation.

Don uses both his own personal experiences before, during, and since the accident to provide an example and inform others of the consequences of not following safety procedures.

Learn critical safety protocols that include:

  • What to touch?
  • What are the risks?
  • Gearing up - why and how
  • The shocking truth of Arc Flash

Only Building Engineers, Property Managers, and Assistant Property Managers permitted. Associate Members (vendors/service providers) will not be permitted to this session. This is an in-person event in Tampa Bay. BOMA Fort Lauderdale / Palm Beaches attendees are invited to attend this educational Engineers event via video-conference.
